Terms of service

Effective August 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Textminder mobile app and, if you sign in, the hosted Textminder API (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to them.

1. What the Service is

Textminder is a reminders app. You describe reminders in natural language; a language model interprets your message; the app schedules real notifications on your device. Reminders are stored on your device, not on Textminder servers. The hosted API is an authenticated, rate-limited relay between the app and a language-model provider (OpenRouter); it does not store your reminders.

2. Accounts

Hosted mode requires signing in with Google. You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to it secure. You may stop using the Service at any time; you can request account deletion as described in the privacy policy.

3. Bring-your-own-key mode

If you configure your own OpenRouter API key, the app calls OpenRouter directly from your device. Your use of that key is governed by your own agreement with OpenRouter, and any usage costs it incurs are yours. Keep your key confidential; it is stored only on your device.

4. Acceptable use

• Don’t use the Service for anything unlawful.
• Don’t abuse the hosted relay: no attempts to circumvent rate limits, authentication, or usage restrictions, and no use of it as a general-purpose LLM proxy for other applications.
• Don’t probe, disrupt, or overload the Service.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms.

5. Reminders are best-effort, so don’t bet a life on them

Notification delivery ultimately depends on your device: operating-system settings, battery optimizations, focus modes, and permissions can delay or suppress notifications. Language models can also misread a request. The assistant confirms every change so you can catch mistakes, and you should verify reminders whose timing genuinely matters. Do not rely on Textminder as your only safeguard for medical, safety-critical, or otherwise vital events.

6. Your content

Your reminders and messages are yours. You give us only the limited rights needed to operate the Service. In hosted mode, that means transmitting your messages to the language-model provider and returning the reply.

7. The software

The Textminder source code is available on GitHub; its use as source code is governed by the license in that repository. These terms cover your use of the Service: the published app and the hosted API.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every reminder will fire on time.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Textminder and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including missed reminders, missed events, or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months before the claim (currently: nothing).

10. Changes

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date; continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
